The Procedure
Will I have a scar on my neck?
No. Unlike traditional thyroid surgery, ablation is a non-surgical procedure performed through a thin needle. There are no incisions and no stitches. You will not have any visible scars on your neck.
Is the procedure painful? Do I need general anesthesia?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. You will be awake but will not feel pain during the treatment. Most patients report only mild pressure or discomfort. You do not need general anesthesia, which allows for a faster recovery.
Can I fly back to the UK immediately after the procedure?
Yes, in most cases. Since there is no general anesthesia or surgical incision, you are physically fit to travel. However, we recommend staying in Antalya for at least 24 hours after the procedure for a final check-up to ensure everything is perfect before you fly home.
