Deciding on thyroid nodule ablation treatment is an important step you are taking for your health. Knowing what awaits you during this process will reduce your anxieties and allow you to approach the treatment with more confidence. Here is your roadmap from the initial examination to complete recovery.

Step 1: Initial Assessment and Planning

Everything begins with a specialist examination. In this phase, your complaints are listened to, a neck ultrasound is performed, and your existing biopsy results are reviewed. Your nodule's size, structure, and location are evaluated to determine if you are a suitable candidate for ablation treatment. All your questions are answered at this stage.

Step 2: The Day of the Procedure

When you arrive at our clinic on the day of the procedure, you do not need to fast. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, you may be asked to stop it a few days before the procedure under your doctor's supervision. Final preparations are made before you are taken to the procedure room, and the process is explained to you one more time. The procedure itself usually takes less than half an hour.

Step 3: Going Home and the First 24 Hours

After approximately 1-2 hours of observation following the procedure, you can return home. Hospital stay is not necessary. You may experience slight tenderness in your neck during the first 24 hours. During this period, it is recommended to avoid heavy physical activities and apply a simple ice pack to the area.

Step 4: Follow-up Checks and Recovery

The success of ablation is measured by the nodule shrinking over time. Regular ultrasound checks are scheduled to monitor this reduction. Follow-ups are usually done at the **1st, 3rd, 6th, and 12th month** after the procedure. During these checks, the reduction in size of the treated nodule and the presence of any new nodules are evaluated. The decrease in the nodule's volume is the clearest indicator of treatment success.
